Dan Foraie is driven by his dreams.

The Golden resident and forestry consultant has been seeking speed and adrenaline for many years now, through adventure sports like backcountry skiing and downhill mountain biking, as well as motor sports like motocross and snowmobile racing.

He’s increased the speeds he seeks significantly recently as the driver of a 550 horsepower, super-late model stock-car, that can rocket along at speeds up to 220 kilometres per hour.

Foraie also comes from a family that’s infused with the spirit of speed and racing.

“I was raised a motor head,” he says. “My brothers were also speed-oriented. They raced sleds and motocross. They were my idols. I always wanted to be like them.

“I always wanted to race. Race cars are a cool thing for every boy. I went to the track down in Cranbrook and watched a race about five years ago and I really liked it. I bought a car that winter.”
